Anisotropy Degeneracy Explorer

The sharpest objection to kinematic IMBH evidence: radial velocity anisotropy (β > 0) and a concentrated remnant cluster can both mimic a central dispersion cusp. Adjust all three and see which combinations reproduce the observed ωCen profile — and when an IMBH becomes genuinely detectable.

β > 0: radially biased orbits — central cusp amplified, can masquerade as IMBH
β < 0: tangentially biased — cusp suppressed
Physics & citations

Uses the spherical isotropic Jeans equation with constant anisotropy parameter β (Binney & Tremaine §4.8.2). The tracer density follows a Plummer model (Mcl = 4 × 10⁶ M☉, a = 7 pc). The remnant cluster is an independent Plummer component contributing dynamical mass but no luminous tracers. The IMBH is a point mass at the centre.

⚠ Both Häberle 2024 (≥ 8,200 M☉ lower limit) and Bañares-Hernández 2025 (≤ 6,000 M☉ 3σ upper limit) remain valid and unreconciled. This tool intentionally shows the degeneracy argument — it does not settle the question.
